The Kentucky Laborers’ Training Trust Fund was organized July 11, 1988. The leadership of the District Council, always alert to the changing and progressive needs of the industry, committed to build and fund a jointly administered training facility with our employer partners for the common good of the industry and the membership.
In 1990, 65 acres of land was purchased at the intersection of the Bluegrass Parkway and Kentucky U.S. Highway 127 in Anderson County. Immediately following the purchase, the Trustees authorized the building of a state-of-the-art Laborers’ Training Facility. In July 1992, the Fund dedicated a new 16,000 sq. ft. classroom training facility with a full time staff and administration.
In 1993, in cooperation with the Kentucky Department of Labor Apprenticeship Standards Division, the Kentucky Laborers’ Apprenticeship Program was established and the Training Fund name was changed to the Kentucky Laborers’ Joint Apprenticeship & Training Trust Fund to acknowledge the mission change.
